Meet the Team

The Office Team

We aim to provide a friendly and professional service to all our customers.  We are here to help at all stages of your playhouse purchase; from your initial contact with us, the design process and through to delivery and installation, we will be on hand to answer any questions and provide clarification for anything that you are unsure about.  Just call us on 01544 387100.

The Production Team

We have a team of 16 skilled wood-workers in our workshops, who manufacture and paint all our products.  We are keen to make effective use of current technology where applicable;  However our emphasis as a business is on skilled people building quality, bespoke, hand built products and ensuring that carpentry skills are kept alive and valued.

Richard Frost – CEO

Moving from a career in Supermarket Management, I started The Playhouse Company with my wife Kay, in 2001.   Initially inspired by the desire to provide a wooden playhouse for our children this then evolved into a business idea, but I maintain my core beliefs in wanting to provide innovative design and quality workmanship, alongside excellent customer service.  I still design all our Playhouses, but the best part of the job is still seeing the excitement on children’s faces when they see their new play house and if I were ever to tire of this feeling, then it would be time for me to find a new venture in life!

Kay Frost - Director

Having a background of working with pre-school children, Kay understands the importance of these formative years and believes passionately in providing “child only” spaces.  These spaces allow children to express themselves and explore their worlds, by letting their creativity and imagination flow, while still of course ensuring that children are safe from harm.   She is still very much involved in the day to day tasks of running the business and undertakes the company’s H.R. work and the maintenance of our website

John Lonsdale-Lowther – Maintenance & Care Manager

John grew up in Zimbabwe and on finishing school he completed a 4 year city and guild apprenticeship in flour milling and then decided to take a year out to visit England; this was in 1987 and he is still here today!  He joined the company in 2003 and as the company has grown he took on the position of factory manager managing the production team.  He has a keen sense of what will work and what won't; having been involved in all of the stages of production during his career here, and as such he was the ideal person to take on the role of maintenace and care manager, this allows him to be involved with our customers as well as the production.
