Quality playhouses don't grow on trees
We love wood. And we respect it too. Understanding the right wood to use in our playhouses is critical to keeping them in sound condition for years. All the wood we select has to be able to withstand all the elements the English climate can throw at it and stay is good smooth condition. This is a constant challenge as wood is a natural product and the same supply can be very variable as can the way one type of timber reacts to its conditions.
Some choices of timber are common across our range. The sections of solid timber we use are always redwood pine. This is a higher grade than whitewood. It comes from slower grown trees, has less resin pockets in it and because the grain is tighter it can have a smoother finish surface. The plywood we use is exterior grade to prevent the layers coming apart if a little moisture gets in.
We only use wood from fully accredited Forestry Stewardship Council suppliers (for more about FSC please click here).
