Timber used
At the playhouse company we only use good quality materials, and it all comes from forest stewardship council (FSC) accrediated suppliers.
The timber used is either scandivian or russian 4th 5th grade redwood. This is a good quality softwood because it is grown in colder climates meaning it grows slower and has a closer grain, and so is stronger.
All the timber used in our playhouses, treehouses or play structures is planned, sanded and has rounded edges to minimise any risk of splinters.
The plywood is an external grade hardwood plywood from FSC accrediated suppliers.
Platforms are built using tanolised timber, this is a pressure treatment that is guaranteed for 15 years. It gives the wood a greenish natural tint, this weathers naturally and will not need any further attention. Support legs and beams are planned with rounded edges. The decking we use is grooved and 38mm thick.
