This square playhouse has been put on to a raised platform to give the children more scope to play. The front of the playhouse has a central stable door with a heart shape cut in it and a window either side of it. Both sides also have a non opening window, this lets in lots of light. The roof is finished with wooden cedar shingles. Internally the walls are plywood lined, it has a foldaway table and bench fitted and has a trap door with rope ladder access to the ground level. There is a staircase in front of the platform and on the left hand side the platform rises to 5ft to accommodate the slide coming off. The whole platform is protected with balustrade rails. Underneath the platform is a hanging swing seat giving the children somewhere to to sit and take a break and be sheltered from the harmful sun rays.

Floor - Raised on a Platform

Your playhouse comes with a solid floor, it is constructed using 25mm x 50mmm tanolised bearers supporting an 18mm wbp external grade plywood floor: this is treated on the upper side using sadolin classic timber protection. Sandwiched between the bearers and plywood is a damp proof membrane that then wraps around the edge and sits under the playhouse side. The membrane is there to stop moisture coming up. A soft floor is fitted to the ground floor of the playhouse once finished - this floor can be removed easily for cleaning. This is then sited on to a decking platform.

Sides - Option 2

This level of build is a popular option as it gives the additional benefits of a damp proof membrane in the walls and a smooth surface on the inside that is suitable for decoration. Initially a framework is built using 50mm x 38mm redwood timber with rounded edges. On the outside of this we fit, using galvanised pins, 6mm wbp external plywood followed by a damp poof membrane and then good quality redwood shiplap, this makes the side panels. These panels are then sanded and treated on the outside using two coats of Sadolin wood preservative. These are then fitted together on site, a clear silicon seal is applied to all the corners.

Roof - Wood Shingles

The playhouse roof is built to withstand the English climate; 75mm x 50mm bearers are put across from side to side. Screwed to these bearers is 12mm external quality plywood covered with two layers of base waterproof membrane and then wooden cedar shingles, using galvanised staples. The felt is wrapped over the front and back and sealed behind the facia board; there is also a ridge board fitted along the top ridge, these boards can be either straight or shaped.

Doors - Stable

All our doors are built with safety as a paramount concern. All are special a non-trap design, using piano hinge down the whole length of the door, and then a rebate on the inside of the hinged side. When the door is in the closed position there is a taper between the door and frame, so should little fingers be left in the way they will not be pinched. Doors are held closed with heavy duty magnets on both sections of the door; this prevents a child getting locked in accidentally, and has a special flange on the bottom half to prevent little fingers being caught when the top door is slammed against it. The window on the door is glazed with unbreakable 2mm polycarbonate sheet. Doors have a knob inside and out.

Other - External Staircase

All staircases are built at an angle of 45 degrees with no more than 180mm between treads, they are built using tanolised timber with grooved decking used for the treads. All staircases above 300mm have balustrade rails on the side.
