This is a large playhouse built next to and in a tree. The playhouse itself has 5 non opening rectangular windows glazed with polycarbonate sheet. The main door is a stable design with a diamond cut out. The playhouse has a trap door with access from the ground via a rope ladder. The main platform is protected by balustrade rails and leads to another platform up in the tree via a ladder. This is also protected by balustrade rails and makes a good look out point for your children to enjoy their play. Coming off the main platform is a climbing wall to the right hand side and a scramble net to the left hand side. To the left of the playhouse is a fireman's pole and main access point to the main platform is via a ladder. Underneath the platform is a tyre swing. The whole area underneath the platform is covered in a soft fall surface of rubber bark a wooden edge.

Floor - Raised on a Platform

Your playhouse comes with a solid floor, it is constructed using 25mm x 50mmm tanolised bearers supporting an 18mm wbp external grade plywood floor: this is treated on the upper side using sadolin classic timber protection. Sandwiched between the bearers and plywood is a damp proof membrane that then wraps around the edge and sits under the playhouse side. The membrane is there to stop moisture coming up. A soft floor is fitted to the ground floor of the playhouse once finished - this floor can be removed easily for cleaning. This is then sited on to a decking platform.

Sides - Option 1

Whilst this is our option one build, it should not be confused with a “shed” type construction, as each one of our playhouses are hand built in our workshops in Herefordshire and we only use superior quality materials. Initially a framework is built using 50mm x 38mm redwood timber with rounded edges. To this we fix, using galvanised brads, good quality redwood shiplap timber; this makes the side panels. These panels are then sanded and treated on the outside using two coats of Sadolin wood preservative. These are then fitted together on site, a clear silicon seal is applied to all the corners.

Roof - Felted

The playhouse roof is built to withstand the English climate; 75mm x 50mm bearers are put across from side to side. Screwed to these bearers is 12mm external quality plywood covered with a base layer of waterproof membrane and then a top layer of 38kg mineral felt, using stainless steel staples. The felt is wrapped over the front and back and sealed behind the facia board.

Doors - Standard

All our doors are built with safety as a paramount concern. All are a special non-trap design, using piano hinge down the whole length of the door, and then a rebate on the inside of the hinged side. When the door is in the closed position there is a taper between the door and frame, so should little fingers be left in the way they will not be pinched. Doors are held closed with heavy duty magnets; this prevents a child getting locked in accidentally. The cut out window is glazed with unbreakable 2mm polycarbonate sheet. Doors have a knob inside and out.

Other - External Platform

The platfrom is built using tanolised timaber 100mm x 100mm posts, 100mm x 50mm bearers and 125mm x 38mm decking. All timber is a good quality redwood and has rounded edges. All platforms over 300mm are protected with balustrade rails or other suitable type of barrier. The balustrade rails are 750mm high, built from 38mm x 50mm timber with rounded off edges and then treated with two coats of sadolin wood preservative.
