This play castle has a weather proof ground floor which has two opening glazed rectangular windows and two non opening glazed windows and a door with a cross cut out. Internally the walls are lined with plywood, it has shelving, a blackboard, a foldaway table and a bench fitted. To the left hand side of it there is an external staircase which gives access to a platform and then the roof top play area. The roof top play area has a portcullis style window and six unglazed castle style windows, it has a telescope fitted to the top of the castellations. The platform has a slide coming off from the front, a climbing wall with knotted rope coming off from the back and a static flag pole fitted. To the left hand side of the play structure a double swing gantry is fitted with two swings.

Specification of this Play Castle

Floor - Ground

Your playhouse comes with a solid floor all ready to be laid onto a sub base, this can be shingle stones/concrete/paving slabs/tarmac/decking. The floor is constructed using 25mm x 50mmm tanolised bearers supporting an 18mm wbp external grade plywood floor: this is treated on the upper side with sadolin classic timber protection. Sandwiched between the bearers and plywood is a damp proof membrane that then wraps around the edge and sits under the playhouse side. The membrane is there to stop moisture coming up from the ground.

A soft floor is fitted to the ground floor of the playhouse once finished - this floor can be removed easily for cleaning.

Sides - Option 2

This level of build is a popular option as it gives the additional benefits of a damp proof membrane in the walls and a smooth surface on the inside that is suitable for decoration. Initially a framework is built using 50mm x 38mm redwood timber with rounded edges. On the outside of this we fit, using galvanised pins, 6mm wbp external plywood followed by a damp poof membrane and then good quality redwood shiplap, this makes the side panels. These panels are then sanded and treated on the outside using two coats of Sadolin wood preservative. These are then fitted together on site, a clear silicon seal is applied to all the corners.

Roof - Castle

Castles have a weatherproof ground floor with the first floor exposed to the elements. We achieve this is by putting a felted roof, sloping to either the left or right on top of the first level we are then able to put a decking platform on top of this with a compensating angle making the roof flat.
We use two layers of waterproof membrane over a 12mm plywood base. The decking boards are tanolised and grooved. Around the decking we then fit castellated walls and put in spacers treated the same as the playhouse sides to hide the roof.

Doors - Standard

All our doors are built with safety as a paramount concern. All are a special non-trap design, using piano hinge down the whole length of the door, and then a rebate on the inside of the hinged side. When the door is in the closed position there is a taper between the door and frame, so should little fingers be left in the way they will not be pinched. Doors are held closed with heavy duty magnets; this prevents a child getting locked in accidentally. The cut out window is glazed with unbreakable 2mm polycarbonate sheet. Doors have a knob inside and out.

Other - External Staircase

All staircases are built at an angle of 45 degrees with no more than 180mm between treads, they are built using tanolised timber with grooved decking used for the treads. All staircases above 300mm have balustrade rails on the side.
