This large castle play structure not only looks great but provides hours of play time for children. The castle has 2 symmetrical towers, each with weatherproof interiors and top roof areas. The towers are joined by a bridge and there are a number of activities on and around the structure. The bridge is 6ft long and 6ft high and has got monkey bars fitted underneath. At the back of each tower there is a large cargo net which is fitted to the ground and extends up to a gap in the top battlements. On the left hand tower there is a ladder access and the right hand tower has a fireman's pole. All around the ground floor walls there is climbing wall holds fitted so it is possible to get all the way around the castle without touching the ground. There are windows in the roof areas of the towers which add to the castle like appearance and provide look out points. There is a shutter window, jail window and 2 further windows on the ground floor of each tower. Each tower also has a octagonal topped main door at the front with a sliding peep hole and a small secret back door.

Sides - Option 2

This level of build is a popular option as it gives the additional benefits of a damp proof membrane in the walls and a smooth surface on the inside that is suitable for decoration. Initially a framework is built using 50mm x 38mm redwood timber with rounded edges. On the outside of this we fit, using galvanised pins, 6mm wbp external plywood followed by a damp poof membrane and then good quality redwood shiplap, this makes the side panels. These panels are then sanded and treated on the outside using two coats of Sadolin wood preservative. These are then fitted together on site, a clear silicon seal is applied to all the corners.

Floor - Ground

Your playhouse comes with a solid floor all ready to be laid onto a sub base; this can be shingle stones/concrete/paving slabs/tarmac/decking. The floor is constructed using 25mm x 50mmm tanolised bearers supporting an 18mm wbp external grade plywood floor: this is treated on the upper side with sadolin classic timber protection. Sandwiched between the bearers and plywood is a damp proof membrane that then wraps around the edge and sits under the playhouse side. The membrane is there to stop moisture coming up from the ground.

A soft floor is fitted to the ground floor of the playhouse once finished - this floor can be removed easily for cleaning.

Roof - Castle

Castles have a weatherproof ground floor with the first floor exposed to the elements. We achieve this is by putting a felted roof, sloping to either the left or right on top of the first level we are then able to put a decking platform on top of this with a compensating angle making the roof flat.
We use two layers of waterproof membrane over a 12mm plywood base. The decking boards are tanolised and grooved. Around the decking we then fit castellated walls and put in spacers treated the same as the playhouse sides to hide the roof.
